In 1870, after finishing a 1000-mile trek throughout Canada, Lt. W.F. Butler, an officer of the British military, prompt the institution of a 'well-equipped strength from a hundred to a hundred and fifty males, one-third to be mounted' for the aim of policing the North West; 3 years later, the North West fastened Police was once tested. by means of the past due Nineteen Eighties, this strength, now the Royal Canadian fastened Police (RCMP), had grown to incorporate 18,000 participants, with the cheap of greater than $1 billion.
